I was just putting a fresh coat of wax on my skis because this weather lately has been flip flopping all over the place.
But no worries because of this: liquid wax! It’s transformed everything about ski prep.
I’ve been waxing and tuning skis for 35 years. When I was growing up, I used to fire up an old iron in the basement of our house and breathe in all those fluorocarbons.
For the 30+ years after that, waxing was pretty much the same process. Not much innovation besides the intro of hydrocarbons—it was still the same waxing process.
And then this stuff came along! When liquid wax hit the market, I didn’t believe the hype until my buddy let me in on the secret and told me about how well it worked and how much time it saved.
Did you know that 92% of consumers trust peer recommendations over ads?
Of course you did. That’s why you have your big influencer program.
And it works, right?
But do you know the psychology behind why it works?
People trust friends (including friends on social media) because of the emotional connection and authenticity of the recommendation. Also, the idea of social proof—someone like me has tried it and likes it—makes it more compelling than a lot of impersonal ads no matter how good they are.
Right or wrong, human nature teaches us that those closest to us have our best interests in mind.
If we can learn one thing from the power of influencers, it’s that connection and authenticity wins.
But, I’m not here to necessarily say go get more influencers.
I’m here to say that humanizing your brand will bring some of this influence into everything you do. It levels up connection and authenticity.
And the first step in humanizing your brand is developing your own unique and ownable POV.
That’s where it all starts.
I guess it’s my POV that everyone should do a little check up on your brand’s POV to make sure that it’s ownable, relevant, and really different from what everyone is saying out there.
If you get stuck along the way, I have two recommendations for you today:
First, you can check out Walden Hyde’s Game Changer video. It’s good stuff. And you should do the brand exercise I explain in the video, even if just gets you thinking differently.
Second, if you need a little help along the way, Walden Hyde is always here for you. On that same Game Changer page there’s a really easy way to get started together, or if you’re looking for something else, please reach out.
Alright, I gotta get some snow underneath these things. Go check out the Game Changer.
We’ll see you out there,
